Hey there everyone! Proteus here with the results for this contest. I must say I'm quite proud of how well this contest went, so many varying stories, matching pretty well to the songs. It was no easy chore to decide who won! I realize I'm a bit late in the announcement, but that's mostly because I had to read everything so closely so I could decide! Alright then. Here we go.

in third place we have Dani California. This was a sad and rather down to earth fic which brought out varying bits of character coming together, tying in pieces of the song with how the story flowed. Quite impressive. If not for how rushed it was, it might have taken a higher place! Congratulations Galathial!

In second place we have A Family's Pride. An epic tale by Scystorm. Impressing us with his unique writing style yet again. Congratulations!

In First Place! We have, No Strings Attached, an epic fiction combining mood, violence with a tad bit of regret to shape a fic way out there in the desert. Give it up for our first placer. Shiguya! Congratulations!

Now, you might be thinking well that's it, winners are in, but I'd like to make an honorable mention. These fics were very hard to place.

4th we have Station 316. While this fic was really slow and it kind of dragged on, it was epic in itself. With some condensing and a little extra time spent on it, this fic could have well earned a higher place. Congratulations and good job to Darkawry!

Hello everyone, Proteus here updating you with our next contest, while the winners of the previous contest are being decided. This month will be a songfic contest. Before I continue allow me to explain this a little.

Stories entering the contest are to be based off a song, you get the choice of what song and what type it is. However, it is not to contain lyrics or references to the song as it's qualifier. To qualify the fic must be based upon a story the song tells. Now not all songs tell a story so go by the lyrics and base it off that.

Please place May Songfic 2010 in the summary as well as the song you chose. While I do encourage early submissions, I also encourage you take your time. Contest ends June 15th. 12 AM EST.

Okay, as several questions have been asked (and that I'm partially responsible for the ambiguous wording), might as well try to get a few things answered.

First off, to enter a fic please add a youtube link (or another off-site link, a safe one please) to the song your story is inspired by. Be honest, and don't take one or two lines and call them matching to a generic story; the idea is to take the music, and put your own spin on what the artist was conveying. Songs composed in other languages are acceptable, so long as you can provide a translation for them (such as in the chapter notes, or a suitable link).

Second, do not add lyrics into your fic. The link will suffice, and if not lyrics are easy to find on the net. Any entries doing such will be disqualified if not amended (after being noted by a moderator). This is for the ease of all reading: lyrics are annoying to read in a story, especially when it takes up several short lines, and it adds needless word count.

And finally, the due date will be June 15, EST (and no extensions allowed, so do be careful as agnph has its own site clock). Beyond that, we're all looking forward to seeing some great entries. ~Shiguya
